🥇Here are the TOP 5 TIPS for people new to strength training.
You are taking the first steps to get healthier, fitter, and stronger. You are unsure if what you are doing is correct or if it's the best route to take. Make sure you follow the guidance below.👇
1️⃣Focus on compound movements. Exercises like: squats, barbell rows, bench press, overhead presses, and deadlifts should be your primary focus. Multi-joint exercises will get you stronger quicker than any other movements and will develop your body faster.
2️⃣Do not look at others. Do not get me wrong here! You can learn stuff from other people but remember, everyone has different goals and different bodies. What they are doing might not be the best or you. Stay focused on improving your technique, and only then, start adding weight to the bar! Quality over quantity.
3️⃣Do not change your routine too soon! Stick to a training plan for at least 8-14 weeks to see if it's working. Develop the neuro-muscular connection first, and once you are comfortable, you can then modify your training. Switching your training every few weeks will not allow our body sufficient time to adopt.
4️⃣Stay consistent! I believe this to be the number 1 thing that people neglect. You did not put on weight in 2 weeks then why do you expect to lose it in two weeks? Hard work pays off! You will start to see results in as little as 4-6weeks. Do not be put off if things do not go your way in the first week or two.
5️⃣The last one, Have a goal! If you are unsure where you are going, how do you expect to get there? Set yourself small goals and do everything to get there. A short term goal can be going to the gym at least 3days per week. Losing 2kg in 20 days, or anything that you want to achieve but be realistic. If you set a goal and you do not reach it, you will be disappointed in yourself. Reaching a small milestone will put a smile on your face, and you will have the determination to keep going because you know you can.
